Oscar Fashion Recap

Last night's Oscar awards was filled with color. It was refreshing to see so little black on the red carpet. Red and silver stole the show but one of my favorite trends was the less is more makeup. The fashion really had to pop in order to work and it totally did.

Anne Hathaway's Oscar host ensemble was great (we were a little worried when we saw the ill-fitting Valentino she walked the red carpet in but she made us proud, props Rachel Zoe)...

Our favorites of the evening (including the after parties)... Who did you love? Enjoy!

Mila Kunis in Elia Saab

Cate Blanchett in Givenchy

Celine Dion in Armani Prive

Emma Roberts in Jenny Packham

Jessica Biel in Versace

Jennifer Lawrence in custom Calvin Klein

Sandra Bullock in Vera Wang

Kate Beckinsale in Julien MacDonald

Oscar re-cap 2010

A little constructive criticism for the E! Oscar Red Carpet pre-show... not asking the starts what they are wearing on the red carpet is an annoying and obvious attempt to lure viewers into watching a fashion re-cap show being advertised for the following day. Bad form E!

Ryan Seacrest asking random and awkward questions does not a pre-show make.  It's a simple formula...

Ryan: "Sandra you are looking fabulous tonight, as always. What are you wearing?"
Sandra: "Thank you Ryan. This is Marchesa."
Ryan: "Well done. The gold dress screams Oscar winner. What are you most looking forward to tonight?"
Sandra: "Eating a hamburger. I haven't starved all day but I am starving."
Ryan: "Best of luck, we are cheering for you."

Simple, easy, quick. Someone bring back Isaac Mizrahi, he made it fun and interesting.

As for the actual awards show, I was sadly disappointed, it felt a little bit stuffy even when it was trying to be funny.

Ok, now onto the important stuff, Fashion! There were so many safe dress choices. Not a lot of wow but several that were pretty, perfectly chosen and lovely. Blue and blush were popular, as were statement earrings with bare necks and shoulders.

Who were your favorites??
