Holiday Season - Gifts for Dad
"Fatherhood is pretending the present you love most is soap-on-a-rope."
--Bill Cosby
--Bill Cosby
This year, like so many years before, my Dad proclaimed "I don't want anything for Christmas. I have enough shirts, underwear and socks. No sweaters, I don't even know where to put the ones that I have."
So, when you are stuck with this scenario, it's time to get creative and branch out. Here are some ideas for Dads... Enjoy!

Lingerie, Brulee and You
When beautifully cut, on-the-bias preferably for the best draping, certain lingerie pieces can make an outfit light, airy and very sexy. A corset under a blazer, a camisole under a cardigan, there are lots of options.
In the late 70's, Josie Natori created the Natori Campany, famous for their beautiful lingerie that can be worn to bed or out to dinner. This was the first real foray into undergarments as outerwear. We saw this trend emerge as slip dresses again in the late 90's. Today, it reinvents itself with visible boning, corseting and adjustable straps.
Spring 2010 lingerie trend covered the runways from Ferretti to Jacobs.

Alberta Ferretti

Jean Paul Gaultier

Halston

Marc Jacobs
There is a wonderful new lingerie designer launching her new line, Brulee, in the late fall. The colors are rich and the fabrics are delicate silk, cotton and jersey with hand cast gold and crystal hardware.
Pieces will be available online as well as at the following brick and mortar locations:
Journelle, Petticoat Lane and Brooklyn Fox in New York, Underwear in Austin and Oh Baby Lingerie and Lille Boutique in Portland. Price points range from $36-$178

This trend re-emerged in the Fall 09 collection by Christian Dior and it didn't stop there.
