Golden Globes 2013 - Recap

Our live blogging went haywire last night when we lost cable and TV service for 2 1/2 hours, so annoying. But, never fear, we are here now to talk about our favorite fashion moments from the 2013 Golden Globes.

Some style takeaways for the evening...
Earrings - statement jewelry of the night
Silver, shades of red, and soft pastels Shades were the color favorites
Necklines and shoulders were a focal point whether bare, adorned in beading or covered in sheer fabric

So, now to our favorites. My dear friend Dee joined me for the fun. Enjoy!

Kate Hudson in Alexander McQueen
This was by far our favorite look. The neckline and waist detail are just stunning. She really knocked this one out of the park.

Amy Adams in Marchesa
Agree to disagree, Dee did not like this dress, "I am not sure where her hair, becomes her skin, becomes her dress." I agree that nude on fair skin can be very hard to wear but I thought she looked lovely. The soft pink was just the right shade to not wash her out.

Claire Danes in Versace
We both gasped when we saw her, "She just had a baby!" The dress was gorgeous on her, especially the shade of red.

Jennifer Garner in Vivienne Westwood
So pretty. Her soft updo and statement earrings were perfect with this gown.

Jennifer Lawrence in Dior
Gorgeous color, loving the metal belt but so confused by the bust. I know it's Dior and on occasion they like to "decorate" the busts of dresses (see Charlize Theron 2010 Oscar dress) but it's distracting.

Jessica Alba in Oscar de la Renta
Loved her in this coral gown. The necklace was gorgeous, although I would have preferred earrings (I am on an earring kick). Dee thought her bag looked like a dead Muppet. It was a little shaggy but fun texture, none the less.

Kristen Bell in Jenny Packham
She looks so glowing and pretty in this beaded grey gown. Being pregnant and looking gorgeous is tough, Kristen accomplished this with ease.

Naomi Watts in Zac Posen
The sexy keyhole in this oxblood gown was the perfect touch, it needed a little skin. Dee thought is was boring but classy. I agree it was a safe choice but she looks fantastic.

Michelle Dockery in Alexandre Vauthier
Dee and I agreed that only Miss Dockery can pull off this golden column dress. Her bob helped tone down the seriousness of the silhouette.

Marion Cotillard in Dior
Dee and I disagreed on this dress. Dee said "She killed it." The color is lovely on her but the drape looks a little flat and the lack of accessories with her slicked back hair caused the dress to look plain. Sad but true.

Lea Michele in Elie Saab
Dee and I disagreed on this dress. Dee thought it looked like toilet paper, which I understand with the color and texture of the gown, but I liked it. Lea has great shoulders for a halter dress and the nipped in waist gave her a great silhouette. We both agreed her tan was a bit strong.

 Taylor Swift in Donna Karan
Another "revenge dress" for Miss Swift. The color was chic and luxurious, as was the silhouette and sheer side panel but neither of us could understand what happened to her chest. We didn't think she was that busty! Dee thought her hair looked like a helmet, it probably could have been a little bit less severe.
