What's new Wednesday: Back to Fall

I haven't been in school for many, many years but my love of the back to school shopping experience hasn't changed. There was always such excitement in planning the first day of school outfit, it makes me giddy just remembering it.

Nowadays my school is a combination of Mommy and me classes with the Little Guy, but that doesn't mean I can't enjoy the fresh start of Fall. If I'm excited for school, he will be, too!

Looking to update your fall wardrobe? Let me know what you are searching for and I will send you a lookbook of ideas. Tweet me @stylebyrisso

Enjoy xo!

Spring and Summer Trend Review

So, we are well into Spring and inching closer to Summer each day. It is time for a recap, a little reminder of what to wear for the glorious sun filled season ahead. I picked three from the plethora of trends from Spring 09. Get excited!

Color - Bold
If ever there was a time to ransack those old boxes of 80's pop color, now would be it. Make it fast though, you have Rocker Chic to get ready for in the fall. Bold against black is the best and most easily worn combo. It can be pulled off with a bright cardigan over a simple black dress, add pops of color through accessories or be super brave and wear it as a statement.

Safari - Neutrals
A few weeks back I featured this trend with a few of my favorite pieces. Well, as we moved closer to Summer the options have increased and so has my favorites list! This has great versatility and we will see the neutrals continue through the fall (but will have a little shine added to them).

Geometric - Black and White
Easy to wear and easier to find. This trend has really taken off from high end to budget retailers. Make sure that the pattern fits your body type, the pattern should accent your favorite parts not make them enemy #1. As for fall, we will see the geometry more in the structure rather than in the pattern.

Inspiration

Over the weekend, the new "How to Spend It" arrived in the Financial Times. The front cover of the monthly glossy was a chic photograph by Carl Bengtsson and styled by Damian Foxe. A woman in wide leg trousers, cut-out blouse and silk scarf hat stepping high in white oxford heels. The picture is lovely, and the styling, impecible, but then you open to the series of photos inside and you find 6 more inspirational pages of color, grandeur and force. Two of my favorites are below. Enjoy!

Cotton hat, matching trousers, and silk mix top, D&G
Clutch and shoes, Roger Vivier

Car coat, Burberry Prorsum
Silk chiffon top, Alberta Ferretti
Silk trousers, Antonio Berardi from Liberty
Obi inspired belt, Basso & Brooke
Silk bow headband, Jeffrey Portman
Sunglasses, Dior
Platform shoes, Raouda Assaf for Basso & Brooke

Resort Fever

Resort is quickly becoming my favorite season. Dreaming of lying on the beach, eyes shut under a wide brimmed hat, soaking up the rays.
