Baby, it's gonna be cold outside

I am just slightly obsessed with checking the weather, I mean, doesn't one have to be in order to create the best ensemble for the day. I would hate to wear a box-pleat skirt if the wind is sweeping in at 20 mph or wear a cashmere cardigan and tights when it's 80 and humid.

I check the weather and plan accordingly. Lately, I will admit, this weather checking has gone a bit far with tracking weather patterns for hurricanes and trends for the winter, I blame the terrible movies about the earth being destroyed by weather related storms, but I digress.

Accuweather is my go to, if I don't like what I see I check weather.com and weatherbug for accuracy and consistency (I know, I have a problem). Accuweather has predicted a very cold and blustery winter for the Northeast and I want to be prepared. (see image below)

Coats, hats, gloves, tights, you know, all the necessary items to be bundled up and oh so chic. You saw my hat choices a couple of weeks ago (click here to see them again). Now, we delve into coats.

A great coat is beyond important. I am referring to a coat that you can wear with almost anything, work, going out, running to Bloomies, main/pedi appointment, you get the point. You want lining, you want warm, you want chic and you want it to last. Spend a little extra on a piece that will take you through a couple seasons, it will be worth it! Just stick to the classics, you can always change out the belt, add some flare or replace buttons to keep up with trends.

Enjoy!

Oh Galliano, how I adore thee

Leave it to Galliano to create another world for us to escape, a universe of faux glitter rain pouring down on folkloric, middle earth meets knights of the round table, clad models adorned in headdresses, veils and jewels.

Amongst the confusion and crush of trends for Fall 2009 Galliano does not stray from his strength and power of putting on a show and leaving us wanting more (escapism).

Enjoy!

Black and White with Whimsy all over

Alexander McQueen and Chanel showed their Fall 2009 lines yesterday in Paris.

Alexander McQueen

I am giving you fair warning that the McQueen's show is moving art, it is "freaky" for lack of a better word. The "mommy dearest" oversize lips frighten me, as well as the bandaged sci-fi "hats", this show gave me the heebee geebees but I could NOT take my eyes off it. The details, fabrics, and pattern combos are lively, whimsical, and above all amazing.

Chanel

There have been two biopics of Coco's life this year and a new movie coming "Coco avant Chanel" staring Audrey Tautou (it premiers in France on April 22nd before coming to the states, click here for the trailer (french no subtitles, I couldn't' understand a thing since I don't speak french but it looks amazing!))

Ah, Chanel. Classic, feminine, modern. It's amazing what Karl can do with the most basic of colors, black and white. ooh, and look closely at the pops of green, so wondrous!! The satin pants I am not too sure about, not because I don't love the cut and the shine but because I cannot pull them off, they show every hint of imperfection (Those bits I keep to myself).

I want the wide bowler hat AND pink tights AND low slung belts, yummy!
