Happy New Year!
Happy 2011. The year has started off with a cold front here in NYC. I am trying to enjoy the chill, and not dream of pink sand beaches and days of endless warmth, by bundling up in my favorite coats, hats, scarves and mittens. Shopping around Soho on Saturday, inevitably, led me to J.Crew and again I am wishing to be in warmer weather. Check out some pieces from their j'adorable (and wearable) resort collection. Enjoy!

What's new Wednesday
It is time to spruce up the wardrobe for the pool and beach time lurking right around the corner.
My darling friends bought me this delightful Kate Spade basket bag, adore...

I already purchased a new striped lightweight shirt from J Crew...

oh, and new wedge sandals from Victoria's Secret...

What does Net a Porter have in store for me? A whole bunch for this What's new Wednesday!

Wedding Guest Attire
The season of love has begun and weddings are blossoming around us. Here are some adorable little dresses to flaunt at the next nuptial you are attending. Who knows, you could be next!
A side note: I mentioned this last year. Please remember, unless you are the bride, or it is called for in the wedding invitation, refrain from wearing white. Thank you.
Enjoy!

J. Crew dress, Molly Sims earrings, Paris Hilton heels
Afternoon Wedding

Sachi+Babi dress, Versace bracelet, Glint heels
Evening Wedding

Teri Jon dress, Wendy Wink necklace, Miu Miu clutch, Badgley Mishka heels
Not feeling like splurging on a new dress? Well, you can always rent one!
I have been looking into Rent the Runway.
The selection of dresses runs the gamut, from Alice+Olivia to Herve Leger to Vena Cava. They recently brought in a selection of accessories, as well. At least this "rent" won't break the bank.

Alice + Olivia rent it for $50, Herve Leger rent it for $150, Vena Cava rent it for $75

Ruffle Jacket
As I was perusing my daily blog read this morning, I came across the most stunning ruffled leather jacket in a photograph taken for The Sartorialist. The jacket is from Valentino's Spring 2010 collection and it is lovely.
It reminded me how a few flourishes can create depth, dimension and interest to any ensemble. Here are a few to try at home. Enjoy!

Floral for Spring
Soft, elegant, ethereal. A few terms that signify one of the highlights of Spring 2010. Runways were a garden of floral prints and embroidery. There were dresses, skirts, blouses, heels, even knickers.
Enjoy!
Here are some affordable options...
Add a ruffled embellished cardigan for a soft look , like the one below from J. Crew.
Appreciate a little edge? Toughen up with a motorcycle jacket, like this one from ASOS.
Enjoy!
Anna Sui
Chanel
Collette Dinnigan
Erdem
Christian Dior

Saturdays
By Friday, like most everyone else I know, I am ready for the weekend. Ready to wake up Saturday morning knowing that I can pretty much do anything with my day, free to explore, to create, to not be sitting at a desk.
It's funny how I have always fallen into a regular routine. As a child, we were up by 7am and off to a swim meet, excited for a day of racing in the pool, learning discipline and camaraderie, playing with friends and, possibly, basking in a win.
As a teen, those swim meets turned into Saturday morning practice, exhausted by 2 hours of drills and sprints but thrilled to go shopping with friends. I would wake up my best friend at exactly 10am, forcing her out of her slumber to meet me for our very packed and planned day. One of my favorite of all these Saturdays included shopping at Nordstrom, candy at See's, makeovers at Bare Essentials and dinner with friends.
Now, at 30, Saturdays are early morning run, grab some delicious coffee, read the papers, write my to-do list and forge ahead with my day, which normally ends with drinks with friends. There is something very comforting about Saturday.
Here is to comfort and the ever enjoyable Saturday... Enjoy!
