What's new Wednesday: Back to Fall

I haven't been in school for many, many years but my love of the back to school shopping experience hasn't changed. There was always such excitement in planning the first day of school outfit, it makes me giddy just remembering it.

Nowadays my school is a combination of Mommy and me classes with the Little Guy, but that doesn't mean I can't enjoy the fresh start of Fall. If I'm excited for school, he will be, too!

Looking to update your fall wardrobe? Let me know what you are searching for and I will send you a lookbook of ideas. Tweet me @stylebyrisso

Enjoy xo!

Fall: Pumps that sparkle

Add some serious shimmer to your fall ensembles with these lit up pumps. If Dorothy had these heels she would make it home but Auntie Em and Uncle Henry would be living in a newly decorated penthouse looking over Central Park complete with walk-in closet, pool and cabana boys waiting for her when she arrived. Enjoy!

The pavement was in my way

Monday night I had an unfortunate run-in with the pavement, banged up knee and sprained ankle, lovely. I would like to blame the uneven New York streets for my tumble but I think my adorable 4 inch platforms had something to do with it. So, now I am on the search for darling, reasonable, walkable shoes. Don't get me wrong I am not giving up my heels, I will just save them until I get into the office. Enjoy!

Michel Perry

It was a bit of a sweltering afternoon. We had just viewed Monet and Van Gogh at the Musee d'Orsay. Deciding to walk in the heat was only agreed upon when shopping was mentioned. As we strolled down Rue St-Honore, a shoe store caught my eye.

Darling heels, flats and boots were carefully displayed in the stores nooks. A new (to me) shoe designer was found. Here are some looks for Fall/Winter 2010 (the shearling is spot on trend). Enjoy!

Jen Aniston and the Lacroix Dress

Over the weekend, Jennifer Aniston wore a pink Christian Lacroix dress to the Paris premier of The Bounty Hunter. Her dress has been fodder for many online magazines and blogs, here are a select few...

Jennifer and her dress..

The dress is couture, overflowing in bows and layers. I like that Jen is finally wearing color on the red carpet, she normally opts for black. What I don't understand, is the shoe choice.

Did she not have any other shoes with her? Did her chosen pair break halfway to the event forcing her to throw on the pair in her bag? Surely, she could have found a plethora of choices on the Avenue Montaigne. Other options...

Sometimes I think I should dedicate a blog solely to shoes. And in that blog there would be a special section called "Oh Beatrix". Beatrix Ong is awesomely, ridiculously amazing at crafting and creating luscious yummy shoes. Scrolling through her Autumn/Fall 2009 collection made me gasp and sigh "oh Beatrix" several times over. I won't make you read anymore, just enjoy the photos from below...sigh... Enjoy!

Spring and Summer Trend Review

So, we are well into Spring and inching closer to Summer each day. It is time for a recap, a little reminder of what to wear for the glorious sun filled season ahead. I picked three from the plethora of trends from Spring 09. Get excited!

Color - Bold
If ever there was a time to ransack those old boxes of 80's pop color, now would be it. Make it fast though, you have Rocker Chic to get ready for in the fall. Bold against black is the best and most easily worn combo. It can be pulled off with a bright cardigan over a simple black dress, add pops of color through accessories or be super brave and wear it as a statement.

Safari - Neutrals
A few weeks back I featured this trend with a few of my favorite pieces. Well, as we moved closer to Summer the options have increased and so has my favorites list! This has great versatility and we will see the neutrals continue through the fall (but will have a little shine added to them).

Geometric - Black and White
Easy to wear and easier to find. This trend has really taken off from high end to budget retailers. Make sure that the pattern fits your body type, the pattern should accent your favorite parts not make them enemy #1. As for fall, we will see the geometry more in the structure rather than in the pattern.
